FAUX RAKU GOURD OIL LAMP CLASS

You are really going to be surprised in this class! This is a technique class of layering in many textures and colors to achieve the look of Raku pottery. Each Oil Lamp will be a completely unique piece of art as we combine our rainbow of colors. No two will look the same.

When completed you will have a beautiful Raku-looked, Gourd Oil Lamp. Which piece of art is the REAL Raku and which is the FAUX Raku?

WHAT IS RAKU?

Raku is when pots are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing red hot and are then placed in a material that would be able to catch fire quickly, such as sawdust or newspaper. The reason for this is to starve the pot of oxygen, which gives the glaze a wonderful variety of colors. Even the artist does not know until the pottery has cooled what the rainbow of colors will look like.
